Need a track system for muslins

I need a ceiling mount track system for muslins in my new studio. I see Denny sells one and I thought Bogen did but I can't seem to locate it.

IKEA sells one too - cheaper, closer/faster to get but perhaps not as robust. $150 will get what I need and i can have it in an hour.

Anyone got experience on this stuff and can tell me the good and bad?
TIA

Re: Need a track system for muslins

Most of our 12x24' muslins are for use off-site and I use 1" steel electrical conduit pipes from Home Depot supported by standard light stands. In the studio, I clip the muslin onto a cheapie I beam channel used for curtains. Just put enough supports for the I beam and you'll be fine. The Ikea is probably closer to what I would use. Unless your studio is so busy that you can't take 3 minutes to change, then maybe you can justify the expensive stuff. I know Backdrop Outlet sells a system too but I can't get anything like that shipped to Canada due to high cost for the length of it, so I improvise. I prefer my muslins to have a wrinkled effect, if you don't, see below.

BTW, the white vinyl is also on two light stands. Nothing here is left up for very long.

One suggestion - a cheap way to have one semi permanent wall for photos is to take your most popular muslin and stick it to the wall with thick wallpaper paste. Don't buy the soupy stuff, it should be thick like paste. I hand painted my main wall 25 years ago and it's a major undertaking. If you use the correct wallpaper paste and apply it to the wall with a roller coater, then press the muslin right onto the wall. The muslin will come off with a good pull and you can put up a new one when needed. Make sure you smooth it out as you are applying it and wrinkles will disappear.

Re: Need a track system for muslins

very interesting.

my muslins are on black iron pipe - heavier than conduit but same idea. PITA to move on/off a set or as a BG as everything has to be out of the way or moved. If on a track it could be slid into place and out again in a jiffy without rearranging all the furniture.

I'm picking up a scene machine (virtural background) and will have to mount that screen to a wall but I lack a dedicated wall so if I can move the muslins in and out easily then that's the ticket!

I'm trying to keep everything up off the floor. the high key BG lights will be mounted to the ceiling on bogen avenger bracket ($15 each - better than a light stand) and my two main lights are on wheeled stands but I still have power cords that are always getting hung up on stuff.
