Re: I shot Raw + jpeg; suggestions on how to "ingest" both images properly?

Michael --

I agree that you don't need the +JPEG when shooting RAW. It's easy enough to do a batch conversion to JPEG from RAW using actions in PhotoShop or whatever image processing software you're using.

I use Adobe's DNG converter to ingest, then iView Media Pro to catalog. I use DNG converter for reasons better explained elsewhere in this formum. It also allows me to convert to DNG and to convert to my naming system (based on Peter Krogh's the DAM Book). Drag and drop also works well. Peter's book has a very good discussion of workflow.

Re: I shot Raw + jpeg; suggestions on how to "ingest" both images properly?

I appreciate all the feedback. I am now convinced I don't need to shoot RAW + jpeg anymore. Of course, the more I learn, the more I realize I don't really know much.

Now I'm playing with PhotoMechanic, testing out lightroom, understanding Capture One (LE) and realizing that if I go "best of breed" I'm going to spend as much to get everything as I will a new lens!

That said, I'm really enjoying more time behind the lens. Thanks again!

But it's worth it! Note that C1LE currently comes free with Sandisk Extreme flash cards.
