Minolta scanner?

Looking for an excellent, easy-to-use 35mm negative/slide scanner under $1000. Found a never-used Minolta 5400 Multi-Scan II for about that price. The 4.8 dynamic range is what impresses me. Yet Konica Minolta's out of business, so no support (though this one's under warranty for a few more months). Is there another scanner equally good? Thanks!
