Not too sure of where to post this, but this forum seemed appropriate.
I've recently contacted Pentax about possibly being a beta tester for their upcoming *ist D digital SLR. I have Pentax glass, so I figured it was worth a shot. I got the email of a marketing director at Pentax USA, and pitched my story. I outlined my experience, and emphasized that all my work for the last 5 or so years has been with Pentax glass and bodies. The response was one of interest, and the marketing director kindly provided me with the proper contact for such a program, as she didn't have any authority to OK such a decision. So, there's been some progress!
I know I'm up against mega-sites like DPReview, Steve's Digicams, and Imaging-Resource. But my catch is that I would subject it to "real-world" tests....my work takes me to concerts, nightclubs, press-conferences, and outdoor festivals, all challenging environments. Plus, I've got Pentax glass anyway, and a dedicated Pentax flash, so they would only have to "loan" me the body.
I've made progress so far, but what do you established pros think my chances of becoming a "beta-tester" of this product are? My opinion is it's worth a shot, it costs me nothing to try!
Of course I'll keep you all posted on any results, unless they make me sign an NDA haha.
