Re: Back in after 25+ years

forget the car charger for the Canon batteries. Go to most any store that sells goodies (Costco, CompUSA, GoodGuys etc) and get an 'inverter'. I paid around 70 bucks for a 350 watt invertor, and it has two AC outlets. Plugs into the cig lighter OR directly connects to the car battery. Most are config'd this way.

We just did a road trip, and charged strobe batteries, camera batteries, and ran a AA battery charger as well. I suppose I could've charged my cell phone that way, too.

Much cheaper, and it runs most anything short of a hair dryer.

Re: Back in after 25+ years

Steve,
Just noticed this thread and your new collection.

One thing to note is that the BP-512 battery will not fit in the camera or the grip. The 512 is almost the same as the 511 except it has a flat back - unlike the curve that the D10/grip is expecting. The 512 was designed for an external bracket on Canon camcorders.

Brian.

Re: Back in after 25+ years

Brian,
FYI I found that the Canon BP-512 and BP-511 will BOTH fit in the camera. However, the Canon BG-ED3 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 10D will ONLY take the BP-511. I received today from Thomas Distributing, Mach 1 series charger by Lenmar for MH-bp511/512 batteries 1 Mach 1 series Universal Charger by Lenmanr (with AC and DC car adapter)and 5 MH-BP511 1300 mAh 7.4 Lithium Ion Batteries ($28.97/4 pack) MH-BP511 1300 mAh 7.4 LiIon Batteries so now I have two complete sets for the grip and two sets for the camera (the BP512's that I previously bought) Thanks, though.

Re: Back in after 25+ years

So the 10D body doesn't have the curve in the battery compartment?

Re: Back in after 25+ years

That's correct. Either battery pack will fit nicely
