eSATA external drives

The problem is no mater how large a hard drive you get it never seems big enough. I'm thinking of using eSATA external drives such as the Seagate 750Gb models.I can get 2 of these and connect them via a PCI-x card to my PC to give 1.5 Tb of additional storage. Should be enough for year or two. I wonder has anyone had experience of these drives.

I have had a Seagate 500GB eSATA for several months and love it. Very fast. Much faster than USB. I keep two copies of everything, so I plan to buy another one since my USB My Book died after only 14 months.

just to help out on the storage side in general. i had a lacie 2TB desktop array set up in raid 0+1 i think, 2 drives mirror another 2, connected with FW 800. and its great. also have 250GB internal for OS and working, and another 500GB internal for personal photo storage.

I've been using external eSATA drives in an enclosure for about a year, now. The one thing that drives me crazy are the cable interconnects. It seems that if so much as three molecules of air around the cables are disturbed, the external volumes drop out. Whoever designed these interconnects should be boiled in oil.
