| Re: camera choice There are literally hundreds of choices. If you stay with one of the better brands you'll be happier: Fuji, Canon, Nikon, Sony all make great cameras.
It sounds too easy but your best bet is to go to a reputable local camera store and have them show you half a dozen different ones that are in your price range. The most important thing you want is a camera that has features you understand, can use easily and are comfortable with. This is definitely one time that a local camera store has a huge advantage over trying to save a few bucks buying on the internet. Try each model for a few minutes and you'll quickly find out that some are easy to use, some are not. Usually most people get too caught up in comparing features, they'll all take good photos. Concentrate on the features that are important to you and don't worry about all the gizmos that you don't need.
If you are happy with the results, you'll use it more often and you'll enjoy photography. If you're still uncertain once you're down to a few choices, post here again and someone should reply with more concrete answers.
