Better Live View Autofocus Coming from Canon?

PhotographyBay is reporting on a fairly recent patent application by Canon that would appear to address many of the video and live view auto focus complaints.

Now, if we can just get the actual lcd screen to swivel for easy viewing like some of the Sony cams. Oh, yeah, and an Aperture Priority mode please. Pretty Please.

What do you think? Is better Live View what Canon should be working on right now? Do you think this patent is aimed primarily at the video mode or the still modes?
